Modular Solutions

Pioneer’s Modular Solutions receivers are designed for applications, often newer vehicles, with limited depth behind the dash that prohibits the installation of a traditional 1DIN or 2DIN receiver. This installation flexibility is achieved by physically separating the LCD touchscreen display from the sub-chassis that contains the CPU, control system, terrestrial radio tuner, amplifier and input/output connections. This allows the sub-chassis to be mounted in a different location* or different horizontal/vertical orientation within the vehicle. To simplify installation and increase vehicle applications, Pioneer and Metra Electronics are partnering to develop vehicle-specific Radio Install Kits** that make the Pioneer Modular Solutions receivers both cosmetically integrated and simple to install.

Apple CarPlay

The DMH-C5500NEX features Apple CarPlay, the smarter, safer and more fun way to use your iPhone® in the car. Apple CarPlay gives iPhone users an incredibly intuitive way to make calls, use Maps, listen to music, and verbally send and listen to messages with just a word or a touch. Apple CarPlay requires iPhone 5 or newer with the latest version of iOS.

Android Auto

The DMH-C5500NEX also features Android Auto, which extends the Android platform into the car in a way that’s purpose-built for driving. Android Auto automatically brings you useful information and organizes it into simple cards that appear just when they’re needed. It’s designed to minimize distraction so you can stay focused on the road ahead.

Android Auto is compatible with Android phones running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) or later. Android Auto may not be available on all devices.

Hands-Free Calling and Audio Streaming

Stay safe and obey local hands-free laws with built-in Bluetooth (HFP). Easily pair a Bluetooth enabled phone to the DMH-C5500NEX without having to go through complicated settings. When a registered Bluetooth device is in proximity to the receiver, the auto connection function automatically pairs the two units.

From hands-free calling, wireless audio streaming (A2DP) with artist, album, and song search*, simple pairing, and control audio (AVRCP profile), Bluetooth® wireless technology has made life in the vehicle much more convenient.

The DMH-C5500NEX with Bluetooth also includes superior call quality reception using Wideband Speech Handsfree Profile 1.6. Wideband Speech nearly doubles the bandwidth of frequencies of a normal Bluetooth call (when compared to calls without Wideband Speech)**.

A Better-Than-Ever Listening Experience

Pandora is personalized internet radio that is designed to help you discover new music that you'll love mixed in with music that you already know. With the DMH-C5500NEX, you can enjoy superior sound quality and full control of the Pandora experience in your car directly from the touchscreen display of the receiver. You are able to give tracks "thumbs up" or "thumbs down," bookmark a song so you can purchase it later, easily switch between your personalized radio stations, and view full track data and album art.

Pandora is compatible with Apple iOS, as well as Android devices that support the Bluetooth Serial Port Profile (SPP). Simply download the free Pandora Radio app to your iPhone or Android device, connect to the DMH-C5500NEX and take your music to the next level.

Spotify App Control®

With Spotify being a dedicated A/V source on the DMH-C5500NEX, you now have the ability to control content from the Spotify app on iPhone and Android devices. You can play, pause and skip tracks, and browse playlists, albums and radio stations on the go using the Pioneer controls. If you are a Spotify premium user (requires a monthly paid subscription), you can enjoy ad-free, high quality music and even download music and listen offline when there is no internet connection.

Power of Siri® Eyes Free

Users of an iPhone® with Siri can take advantage of Siri Eyes Free functionality. With a simple touch of the NEX touchscreen, Siri starts listening through the NEX unit's external microphone and answers your questions and requests over the vehicle's speakers, helping you keep your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel.

Your Favorite Stations Wherever You Go, Wherever You Are

The DMH-C5500NEX is SiriusXM- Ready® so you can get over 140 channels, including commercial-free music, plus the best sports and live events, comedy, news, exclusive talk and entertainment. SiriusXM programming is received through the SiriusXM Connect Vehicle Tuner (sold separately, SiriusXM subscription required).

iDataLink Maestro

Keep your factory features and expand your level of in-vehicle connectivity with Pioneer NEX and iDatalink Maestro RR. When your DMH-C5500NEX receiver is installed in a compatible vehicle using the iDatalink Maestro RR interface (sold separately), you’ll be able to enjoy the performance and features of the DMH-C5500NEX receiver plus touchscreen control over key factory audio features.

The DMH-C5500NEX supports factory functions via the iDatalink Maestro RR interface including: Steering Wheel Controls, Media Player (including the factory AUX-in and USB ports), Hands-Free Telephone, Voice Commands, Satellite Radio, and Secondary Display Support.

USB Direct Control for iPhone

Pioneer's DMH-C5500NEX is ready to roll with direct connectivity to your iPhone* for music and video via USB. Song, artist, time and album information are beautifully displayed on the touchscreen.

The system's wired USB connection provides direct digital signal transfer from the device for clean, clear sound while providing 1.5 amp of current to keep your iPod/iPhone charged.

All NEX models feature built-in Bluetooth® that enables both hands-free calling and audio streaming. When streaming music, NEX even lets you browse and select the media stored on your smartphone using the AVRCP 1.6 profile.

Sound Quality For All

Your car and your music are as unique as you are. With a Pioneer NEX in-dash receiver, sound quality features like built-in Auto EQ and Time Alignment, 13-Band Graphic Equalizer with touch panel swipe settings and built-in high/low pass crossover with adjustable points and slopes provide you with the controls to tailor the listening experience to your vehicle and listening preferences. The CD-MC20 microphone is required for Auto EQ features and is sold separately.

Pioneer's NEX in-dash receivers were the first in the industry to offer playback of files encoded as high-res FLAC up to 192kHz/24 bit and provide playback output at CD quality. With Pioneer, your high-res FLAC is no longer confined to your home hi-fi system - put your music on the move.
